BES is currently seeking a Math Instructional Coach/Interventionist for the 2018-19 school year. This is a full-time, benefited position. Pay is commensurate with education and experience. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION/DUTIES:

 

Math Coach/Interventionist:

  • Works with classroom and support teachers to impact instruction (primarily Math Instruction) for all learners and especially our English Language Learners, with a focus on Literacy-Based ELD instructional settings, incorporating the WIDA Framework for content area instruction in Math, as well as Science and Social Studies.
  • Addresses required programming criteria for math instruction, assessment, and curriculum use
  • Works with data teams to help determine the root cause of student issues in Math Instructional settings and Math Interventions designed to improve learning outcomes.
  • Attends regularly scheduled professional development and District Math Leadership team meetings
  • Takes-on several cross-cutting roles: resource provider, data collection and analysis coach, data analyst, mentor, facilitator, leader and catalyst for positive change in mathematics
  • Provides math intervention for students K-4

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience and knowledge of English Language Development and current theories related to Bilingual Education, especially with regards to Math learning and Math pedagogy.
  • Background and experience teaching Mathematics in an elementary school setting or a Dual Language school
  • A demonstrable commitment to the maintenance of high expectations and inclusive instructional excellence for students and teachers.
  • A growth mindset, and deep personal commitment to continuous learning and professional-practice improvement.
  • The ability to think and collaborate proactively and strategically regarding change, data-driven decision making, resource allocation, stakeholder communication, and process facilitation.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience working with and instructing adults and students regarding instruction and assessment, particularly in Mathematics, is recommended, as is an understanding of adult learning and skill development. Strong candidates will demonstrate the ability to collaboratively diagnose and address the needs of teachers facing real-world ELD challenges in their classrooms.  
  • Bilingualism and Biliteracy  in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with the Bridges Math curriculum, Forefront database is preferred, but not required.
