Crystal River Elementary School - Special Education: Significant Support Needs Teacher (SSN)

 

The Roaring Fork School District is seeking applications for a dynamic, knowledgeable, innovative Special Education teacher to ensure that every student develops the enduring knowledge, skills and character to thrive in a changing world.

 

Crystal River Elementary School (CRES) serves a diverse and multilingual student population of 450 PreK- 4th grade students. Teachers at CRES work closely and collaboratively with their team to develop and implement RFSD instructional model, and are supported through ongoing coaching cycles to help the continuous improvement of their craft.  CRES seeks a positive and proactive individual who strives to build strong relationships with parents, students, and colleagues and embraces the mission and vision of our school.

 

Special Educators are responsible for managing student caseloads, performing evaluations/assessment, keeping up with paperwork associated with IEPs and other Special Education systems, and most importantly, delivering high-quality instruction based on IEP goals to students across all grade levels. Significant Support Needs (SSN) special educators work with our most impacted population and have smaller caseloads because of the intensive needs of the children they serve.

Required Qualifications:

 

*Colorado Teaching License (K-6)

 

*Generalist Special Education Certification



Desired Qualifications:

 

*Elementary Special Education teaching experience

 

*Experience teaching a diverse population of students including English Language Learners and previous work with intentionally implementing culturally responsive instruction.

 

*Strong background in literacy and mathematics instruction

 

*Experience and training in de-escalation, crisis response, and restraint techniques (CPI Preferred)

 

*Training in Orton-Gillingham (OG) basic, and/or advanced levels

 

*Experience with contributing to MTSS processes and providing RtI

 

*Bilingual
