Basalt High School seeks an instructor to teach one course in Residential Construction for 2018-19. The class will confer many of the hard skills necessary for the residential building trades, as well as cover the basics of home design and permitting/housing codes. The class is offered four days per week, beginning at 8:00am each day.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in home construction as a builder, contractor, designer, architect, artist or other tradework professional.
- Experience teaching and/or training in an active hands-on environment. Thorough knowledge of safety protocols and techniques on a variety of machinery and hand-held tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- A strong record of project design and completion.
- Experience teaching middle school or high school students.
- A working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and drafting software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, etc.)
- The ideal applicant will hold or have the experience necessary to obtain a "Secondary CTE Architecture and Construction" credential or an equivalent "Industrial Technology/Art" credential, from the Colorado Department of Education.
