DEFINITION:
The Transportation Operations Manager ensures efficient operation of the Transportation department by managing the day-to-day functions.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Directly reports to the Director of Transportation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage trip coordination.
- Collect time sheets; complete monthly payroll reports and enter absences for department staff.
- Reconcile bank and P-card statements.
- Prepare and submit reimbursement requests to District Office.
- Coordinate mini bus assignment.
- Initiate purchase orders and submit invoices to Finance at the District Office to pay; maintain all paperwork on file for yearly audit.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, systems and procedures.
- Maintain student safety as first priority for all decisions.
- Coordinate substitute drivers.
- Maintain school site relations.
- Provide Director with monthly budget updates and reports.
- Supervise transportation department employees and complete evaluations.
- Assist with dispatch.
- Prepare CDE 40 reports.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Lead and coordinate a large group of iternerate employees.

- Multi-task and manage multiple concurrent projects.

Knowledge of:
- School district transportation department processes, procedures and compliance requirements.
- Up-to-date communication methods, systems, and software.
EXPERIENCE & TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a school transportation department in a position overseeing day to day operations. Previous management experience in a team oriented workplace preferred.
Training:
High School Diploma Required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's license with appropriate endorsements to drive a school bus as needed.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must have satisfactory outcome of background and fingerprinting check, and drug screening prior to starting employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside. The noise level is usually moderate. Office environment; exposure to computer screens and use of a keyboard. Occasional travel required including driving a bus.
Physical Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand. Occasional lifting of 25 pounds or less.
The Transportation Operations Manager is scheduled to work 260 days and is an exempt employee.
