K-8 Behavior Support Paraprofessional- Temporary position
Riverview K-8 school is seeking a positive and enthusiastic Behavior Support Paraprofessional for the remainder of the 2018-19 school year only. Pay begins at $17.79 but may be higher for experienced candidates. This 37.5 hour per week position will support the school by providing social emotional and behavior intervention support to students inside and outside of the classroom environment. The Behavior Support Para will assist in supporting and developing learning environments that are structured, organized and routine-oriented within a variety of settings to facilitate student and self-management and independence skills. The Behavior Support Specialist will respond throughout the day to the social and emotional needs of students through supportive protocols that model, teach and allow for the student to practice positive social replacement behaviors. This positions requires:
* The ability to be able to complete the Crisis Prevention Institute training
* Ability to complete additional training as requested
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to follow directions and collaborate with team members
• Ability to remain calm and respond to student behaviors appropriately
• Effective teaching skills to model and teach pro-social replacement behaviors
• Provide direct instructional services and in-class support
• Facilitate student participation in the school environment
• Assist in the general education classroom as requested
• Ensure student safety
• Effectively redirect inappropriate student behaviors
• Maintain a positive attitude and act as an appropriate role model at all times
• Maintain incident reports, health logs, and other records
• Act as liaison to teachers, providers, administrators, parents, and community
NOTE: This position involves service provision prior to and after school, during busing.
